Armstrong Bros. Plumbing was started by brothers Charles, Dave and Les, in 1911 after they moved to Manatee from Minnesota. Dave was the first public Works Commissioner for Bradenton and Les, who was also a real estate agent, became the first Republican County Commissioner elected since the Civil War. Charles then took sole ownership. Charles' son Chester bought the company from his father in 1936 and eventually expanded the business to include LP gas, oil and heating supplies.
Later Chester's son Bill Armstrong took over the business in 1970. It wasn't until 1991 when Bill Edwards became the first owner without the last name of Armstrong.
